The idea of surrendering to the inevitable is about trust not only in the self, but also in the unknown. In Wagnerʼs The Flying Dutchman the lone traveller eventually accepts that his desires insist in spite of being beyond the possibility of realisation. This realisation is celebrated through video, installation, and a live performance by opera singer Kimberley Colman on the opening night only.

ʻA Song For The Mountainʼ at Kings ARI, August 24 - September 15, 2012 was the outcome of an artist residency at L’École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Réunion Island in August 2011.

This project was assisted by The Australian Artists’ Grant. The Australian Artists’ Grant is a NAVA initiative, made possible through the generous sponsorship of Mrs Janet Holmes à Court and the support of the Visual Arts Board, Australia Council for the Arts.
